More Than You Ever Want to Know

Possibly you’re about to read more than you ever want to know about me or even need to know.  I bet you’ve seen the lists of items you might not know about friends on Facebook. I find them incredibly interesting. I’m a details person, so I’m going to join the crowd and share 20 things about me.

Hiking Laramie Peak

  1. I’ve only lived in Wyoming and have deep family roots here, but we have no family in our town.
  2. I don’t eat red M&Ms. It has to do with an article I read in high school and rats. The whole reason makes people look at me weird. I’ll spare you. You’re welcome.
  3. We have four children, but I would just keep adding to the brood. My husband says no.
  4. Once I get an idea, it’s hard to talk me out of it. This must drive my husband nuts. I haven’t asked him because I don’t want to hear the answer.
  5. I’m not scared of heights, but I am afraid of falling. Standing on the Skydeck of  Willis Tower in Chicago was a major accomplishment and one that nearly caused my heart to jump out of my chest.
  6. I would love to be a professional photographer but don’t want to work nights or weekends. I take hundreds of photos each month of this life I’m experiencing with my family.
  7. I only sleep on my right side.
  8. I take blood thinner medication and have spent time hospitalized twice because of clots.
  9. I belong to two book clubs that I attend and another one I read the books for but don’t attend.
  10. I’m on the Board of Trustees for our county’s public library.
  11. If you haven’t guessed, I have a passion for the written word.
  12. I like hot drinks to be just that, hot. I’ll reheat my morning coffee several times before I actually finish it. For this reason, I rarely buy coffee at a coffee shop. It’s never hot enough.
  13. My husband and I completed the Insanity workout program last winter and never missed a workout. This was a major accomplishment.
  14. I rarely go to bed before midnight. It’s apparent the older I become that my body requires more than six hours of sleep. As much as I try, I just can’t break this routine.
  15. I eat ice cream out of the carton. Shhh…don’t tell my kids.
  16. I’m a feeler to the extreme. I’ve been known to cry over random acts of kindness and hearing teachers say nice things about my kiddos as much as over things that hurt my feelings.
  17. My bucket list includes visiting every national park in the U.S. So far, I’ve been to 20 in four years. There are a lot more to go. I would rather hike than sit by a pool and sun myself.
  18. I would travel every weekend and love old fashion road trips. Everyone in the car, up early to start, coolers full of food, lunches made at rest areas or random parks and seeing the differences our beautiful country has to offer makes me giddy. We plan our trips but ALWAYS end up sidetracked by roadside signs along the way.
  19. I haven’t flown since college, 1999 to be exact.
  20. The past five summers we’ve hosted a Challenger Sports British soccer coach for one week. We look forward to this every year. I’m not sure how the coaches feel about meeting us but meeting them has changed our family. I want my children to realize the power of hospitality.
